Improvising over Burgundy – with Vince Benedetti

Hello everybody, I am intending to host a Zoom meeting the topic of which is improvising over Barry’s unique tune “Burgundy”.
The emphasis will be on phrase conception through an analysis of the active elements in that include:

• The song form
• Phrase lengths
• Chord cadences
• Chord scales with emphasis on starting notes
• Rhythmic syntax

The meeting will feature numerous written examples backed by rhythm section accompaniment.
After the meeting all examples will be available to participants in the form of an “interactive pdf” that includes the written examples plus embedded links to the corresponding rhythm section audio files.

One needs to have the program Adobe Acrobat Reader (a.k.a. Acrobat Reader) to access the mp3 files via the embedded links. Adobe Acrobat Reader is free and is available for all devices including phones through their website www.adobe.com.

I hope to see as many of you as possible at the meeting, which I hope will help to carry on the tradition that Barry so eloquently represented.
